Guns


Introduction

The Indian Army’s artillery regiments are equipped with three types of field guns: 155mm/39-caliber Bofors FH-77B howitzers bought in the late 1980s (200 of the 410 guns are currently operational), Indian manufactured 105mm field guns, and Russian 130mm guns.

The Indian Army has initiated an Artillery Modernization program under which it is procuring rockets. missiles and guns.

Under the program, the Regiment of Artillery has inducted PINAKA Rocket Systems, Smerch Rocket Systems and BrahMos Missile Systems in the past 7-8 years. 

Nine Regiments of 130 mm guns have already been upgraded in keeping with Artillery profile 2027.

155mm / 52 Caliber Towed Gun. (400 outright purchase, 1180 indigenous manufacture)
155mm / 52 Caliber Tracked (Self-Propelled) Gun. (100)
