HTT-40 model at the HAL pavilion at Aero India 2011
HAL is developing the HTT-40, powered by a turbo prop engine, as a replacement for the piston engined HPT-32 Deepak aircraft for Basic Flying Training.
Engine problems have resulted in the Deepaks being grounded by the IAF.
The dimensions for HTT-40 are as follows.
Wing Span: 11m (36ft)
Max T/0 Weight: 2,800kg (6,170lb)
Max Speed: 243kt (450km/h)
Max Altitude: 19,700ft
